likely
used as an adjective
Likely is usually used as an adjective. You say, for example, that something is likely to happen.
These services are likely to be available to us all before long.

You can also say that it is likely that something will happen.
It is likely that there will be a major use of coal to make oil.

used as an adverb
In conversation, likely is sometimes used as an adverb with `most', `more than', or `very' in front of it, or as part of the phrase `more likely than not'. You do not use it as an adverb on its own.
One pupil will have been taught, most likely, by five people.
More than likely they have only so many rooms on allocation.
More likely than not he will realize he is beaten.
